In 2019 the team at number eleven were commissioned by English Heritage to create designs for two new exhibitions at Apsley House, former home of the Duke of Wellington.

Illustrative design approach

The exhibition brief was to present hitherto unseen objects to visitors, in a way that tell a compelling story of eight missing years in the the young Duke of Wellington’s life. During the course of the project the team produced exhibition layout design, all signage and promotional print materials.

Use of space

The exhibition space was quite small, so the design incorporated best use of space to include a range of decals, which not only offered exhibition information to the visitor but also created atmosphere and depth.

Panels & Decals to tell a story

The team designed panels and decals to present historical information about how the Duke of Wellington’s household was managed, along with a series showing how various events affected the household. The design concept was created to ensure clear presentation of information in a way that was fitting with the age of the building.
