We strongly believe in trying ideas out and discussing ideas with clients and suppliers before finalising designs.

Case mockups

For example, we frequently advocate mocking-up showcase arrangements with curators before finalising showcase designs. This helps curators and interpreters formulate their narrative, it helps conservators and objects mounters devise solutions and minimises surprises later.

Case layout

Digital layouts of objects in showcases provide a fast way to communicate initial ideas to curators, conservators and object handlers. However whenever possible and safe to do so, we suggest that checking the viability of these in prototype showcases with the actual objects avoids problems over dimensions and weights and also suggest new ways to group objects.

We also use digital images to visualise how spaces might look and to assist with presenting ideas to clients. Here for a scheme at Buxton Museum and at Thurso for one of the venues of the `Nordic by Nature travelling exhibition for the British Museum.
